Airbus has launched an on-demand helicopter service called Voom in São Paulo, Brazil, taking people from the city to the outskirts. The aim of the service is to transform the urban commute by making air travel affordable and accessible, thereby easing road congestion. Using Voom’s app, travelers can book a flight as early as seven days or as late as 60 minutes before departure, and it costs up to 80 percent less than traditional helicopter services, according to Voom. Sao Paulo has more than 400 helipads available in the metro area, and 700 helicopters, making it one of the world’s busiest cities for helicopter traffic.
