H & H Auctions Prince Philip’s 1954 Aston Martin Lagonda

H & H Auction Rooms will be hosting a sale for Prince Philip’s much-loved 1954 Aston Martin Lagonda Drophead Coupe on April 20, 2016, at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford, Cambridgeshire. The car was made to order for the Duke of Edinburgh that got Aston Martin its first Royal Warrant with bespoke features. The car features grey leather upholstery that is matched with an exclusive shade of the Edinburgh Green colour. Apart from its basic features it has a radio telephone and an extra vanity mirror that was used by the Queen to adjust her hat. The radio phone was an important addition as the Prince Philip had his own radio frequency by The Admirality. The four-seater convertible is the only car out of the 20 MK1 cars that was used by The Duke of Edinburgh for personal transport up until 1961. The Duke of Edinburgh used the Aston Martin to drive to his polo matches and also to Prince Charles’ prep school to drop him. Well, look like James Bond isn’t the only one in love with the Aston Martin!
