Mad Hatter’s afternoon tea at One Square Edinburgh

One Square continues its innovative approach to afternoon tea as it launches a fantasy foodie experience straight out of Lewis Carroll’s classic novel, Alice in Wonderland. The delightful Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea offers white rabbit lemon and vanilla pocket watch macarons, Queen of Hearts shortbread playing cards, a vivid green toffee sponge 10/6 Hat, colourful  “Drink Me” potions and the cutest chocolate Cheshire cat – all inspired by the original text. The pastry team may have gone to town with the sweet delicacies but you can be assured that the savoury plate has not been overlooked. The Humpty Dumpty quail egg and rabbit scotch egg leads you further down the foodie fantasy path while a savoury trifle with a twist features a dreamy delight of smoked salmon, crème fraîche, rye bread and fennel pollen macaron. While this is one of One Square’s maddest afternoon teas to date, the traditions have not been overlooked with the offering of a plain scone alongside beetroot & chocolate and green tea & mint scones served with unsalted butter, Devonshire clotted cream and rhubarb compote. Along with this, the tea is served alongside a select choice of enveloped or loose leaf fine teas and infusions that are traditionally prepared at the table. The Mad Hatter’s Afternoon Tea launches on April Fools’ Day with a special two-for-one offer – available on 1st April only. The tea will be served, daily, in One Square, between 2.30pm and 5.30pm until 31 May 2016, costing £27 per person. Bon appetit!
