Michael Schumacher’s winning F1 car to go under the hammer at Sotheby’s

Michael Schumacher’s 2001 world championship winning Formula 1 Ferrari F2001 racecar—which is still in perfect condition and ready for circuit use—is all set to go under the hammer at Sotheby’s on November 16, as a part of its Contemporary Art Evening Auction in New York City. Schumacher used the very same car to win the Monaco Grand Prix and F1 driver’s championship in 2001 – his forth out of seven in total. The Ferrari F2001, chassis no. 211, is powered by a 3.0-liter V10. Currently on display at Sotheby’s Autumn Sales week in Hong Kong, the race car is estimated to fetch over $4 million and is being auctioned by Ferrari as a part of the company’s 70th anniversary celebration. Ferrari is even offering to house it in Maranello, and transport it worldwide to Corse Clienti track events offering the services of a squad of Ferrari technicians, mechanics, and test drivers.
