The Rosemont Hotel & Residence Dubai will soon house a wondrous marvel: a rainforest, quite literally in the middle of the desert. Operated under Hilton’s Curio brand, the $550 million project is a dual-tower development that will cover 13,000 sq ft and will be located on Sheikh Zayed Road. Each tower will have 53-storeys, with the rainforest coming as a pedestal on level five. It will extend to an expanse of 75,000 sq ft and include a splash pool, manmade beach (without waves) and trees. What’s more, there will be a simulated experience of “seeing flora and fauna from ground to the canopy”, while the air will be “misted using a sensory system” simulating the “sensation of being surrounded by rainfall without actually getting wet.” How’s that for virtual reality travel?
