SIHH 2016 witnessed some of the most spectacular timepieces of all times, one such masterwork was Sherman, a limited edition robot-inspired watch by Swiss watchmaker MB&F, crafted in collaboration with clock-maker L’Epée, Switzerland’s only specialised high-end clock manufacturer. Just when you think ‘this is it’, master watch-makers surprise you with something better than what has been seen before, making impossible things possible. MB&F Sherman is a friendly themed robot, a younger brother to the MB&F Melchior clock released in 2015. This adorable robot was conceived and designed by MB&F and engineered and crafted by L’Epée 1839. Sherman is said to be a result of Swiss watchmaker Maximilian Büsser’s efforts to revisit his childhood during which he always wanted a robot friend. The diamond set model shows time displayed in the traditional two-hand clock-style dial. Like its brother, Sherman’s brain area has a mineral glass dome which keeps the balance wheel and its regulation system visible at all times. According to its makers, there are two things that Sherman does extremely well. First of the two is telling time; the second making people smile.
