Chanel High Jewelry Collection 2017 features nautical theme

Chanel’s latest high jewelry collection was presented recently at the at the recent Haute Couture Fashion Week in Paris. Named ‘Flying Cloud’ this collection features a nautical theme and it draws inspiration from one of the most significant men in the life of Gabrielle Chanel— Hugh Grosvenor. Grosvenor was the second Duke of Westminster and he owned a yacht by the name of Flying Cloud. Grosvenor introduced Chanel to the nautical world and the Riviera aboard this very luxurious four-mast vessel which now serves as the inspiration for the 2017 collection. Split into two parts, the collection was inspired by seafaring equipment, essentials and the nautical world. It also brings in a touch of the nautical summer wardrobe, and the colours range from a tranquil white to intense blue and sparkly yellow. Pieces such as Precious Float feature life buoys in white gold, lapis-lazuli and cultured pearls, while Sparkling Lines has ropes in white gold and diamonds. Yachting Day is interestingly made up of anchors in white gold, sapphires and pearls while Summer Cruise has stripes of sapphires, white gold and cultured pearls or yellow and white diamonds.
