World’s largest Pink Diamond to be auctioned at Sotheby’s

Pink Star, the largest pink diamond in the world, is all set to go under the hammer at Sotheby’s Hong Kong on April 4, 2017. The 59.60-carat stone is an oval mixed cut and the largest internally flawless fancy vivid pink diamond as per the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Mined in 1999 by the De Beers Group in Africa, the Pink Star was a massive 132.5-carat rough gemstone when found. The current size is a result of cutting and polishing carried out upon the stone. Estimated to fetch $60 million, the huge pink rock is expected to break the record of Christie’s blue diamond sold at $57.5 million last year.
