Cycling brand SpeedX has created a smart bicycle that comes equipped with an inbuilt computer and a vibration control system creating a super smooth ride. The Unicorn bicycle was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this month, and is described by SpeedX as “best looking and smartest bike ever”. The main feature of the bike is its Vibration Control System (VCS), which increases comfort when riding, through its integration with a specially engineered carbon fibre frame. The system comprises a cutout in the lower section of the seat tube and a carbon section that acts as a shock damper, as well as a flexible seat stay and tube designed to move. The bicycle also comes equipped with an Android-powered computer named SpeedForce, which was originally developed by SpeedX in 2015. As well as measuring and collecting data such as speed, temperature and altitude, the device also pulls readings from an integrated power meter – allowing riders to accurately measure how hard they have worked without using third-party devices. The computer has a wireless button on the underside of the handlebars, which allows riders to switch screens without having to touch the computer itself. The prices for the Unicorn—available online— start from $3199 and the bike is currently on show at CES until 8 January.

This is truly the car of the future—the kind that actually picks up on your emotions and interacts not just with you but also the drivers around you. Japanese auto brand Toyota’s latest concept car equipped with artificial intelligence system was revealed at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) this month. The Toyota Concept-I actually builds a relationship with its driver by learning their driving patterns and schedules, as well as measuring their emotions and mapping them against the car’s whereabouts. The AI assistant, affectionately named Yui, also uses its technologies to improve safety, offering  automated driving to help the driver navigate difficult road conditions, on the basis of its monitoring of the driver’s attention and responsiveness as well as road conditions. Inside, Yui uses light and sound to communicate information to the driver. Coloured lighting in the footwells indicates whether the vehicle is in self-driving or manual mode, and projectors in the rear warn about blind spots. The exterior of the car also communicates with its user and surroundings. When the driver approaches the vehicle, text appears on the door panels to welcome them. On its rear, the car displays warning messages about turns and hazards, while the vehicle’s front communicates to other drivers when the car is in its autonomous mode. Now this is truly one smart car.

Dubai’s Burj Al Arab, along with AmStur Caviar, has registered its name in the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the largest tin of caviar. The record setting tin contained 17 kg of deep-grey Empress caviar —the only caviar in the world certified fully organic from native-raised sturgeon. The tin, custom made by AmStur, was named The Mashenomak after the Great White Sturgeon of Native American legend. Here’s the fun bit though: The record required the entire portion of caviar to be completely consumed and lucky guests at the event got a chance to consume the delicacy with mother of pearl spoons! Now that’s what we call truly royal marine style.

Penhaligon’s very British ‘Portrait’ range of fragrances is known for capturing the English aristocracy in all its grandeur. The brand has debuted two new scents now to add to the collection, each of which take after a novel theatrical character, respectively titled ‘Clandestine Clara’ and ‘Roaring Radcliff’. Clandestine Clara is a nod to the mistress of Lord George who carries a destroying impression for her “un-ladylike” life choices. The new fragrance is designed by Sophie Labbé who blends vanilla, rum, cinnamon, musk, amber and patchouli, to capture the scent of the woman. The second addition to the collection, Roaring Radcliff, is fashioned after a family bad boy who is the secret son of Lord George and is known to enjoy an over materialistic routine. Designed by perfumer Daphné Bugey, the fragrance is a heady mix of rum, tobacco and spices. Both the naughty fragrances are scheduled for release in February 2017, and will be available across Penhaligon’s outlets and also online.

Swiss design and technology company 42foundry has developed an ETCH clock that combines seven-segment digital displays and embossed fonts with engraving and can be hung on either a wall or, by screwing on the base, can sit on the desk or mantle.  Inside the elegantly understated aluminum frame, the face of the Etch Clock is covered with a Dark Peacock colored elastomer surface.  Each thirty seconds the clock will create a digital time display within that surface, not with light but through a process that actually sinks etched-looking 3-D numerals into the elastic surface. With the phone app you can quickly synchronize the ETCH clock with your local time as well as choose from two display methods, one with the time fading in and then out every thirty seconds or to display only when its onboard sensors detect ambient sound or noise. For the price of $1,370 you truly have the future in your hands.
