Cartier’s new timepiece from the Pre-SIHH 2018 collection is christened the Cartier Rotonde de Cartier Mysterious Day & Night, a name as alluring as the watch itself. A modern spin on the original and iconic Mystery Clock by Cartier produced in 1912, this one features the Day & Night function designed for the first time in the same year. While the top half of the dial features the mystery day and night feature, using a pair of indicators showing the sun and the moon, the bottom half features a retrograde style minute display with a lone bright blue steel hand punctuating the dial. The dial itself has at its center a circular Guilloché motif, with a dark brown tone and Sun Beam pattern on the outer part. Powered by the brand’s in-house hand wound movement Caliber 9982 MC capable of providing 48 hours of power reserve, the timepiece is available in either 18K white or pink gold with a 40mm gold case and the brand’s signature cabochon blue sapphire winding crown. Priced at $63,000 the watch will be available for sale next year.

Lamborghini just unveiled plans for a visionary hypercar concept that’s sure to blow your mind. Dubbed the Lamborghini Terzo Millennio, this hypercar uses unique and innovative self-healing materials for its body and an unprecedented supercapacitor that powers its four-wheel drive. Instead of the V12 engine, the jaw droppingly gorgeous vehicle gets all-electric power that runs to motors integrated into each wheel. The supercar can also store energy in its carbon fiber body–a feature that’s probably going to get a lot more popular in the coming future. The Terzo Millenio maintains the iconic Lamborghini lines but the design is a definite treat for sore eyes.

Karl Lagerfeld will be designing the iconic Christmas tree at London’s Claridge’s Hotel this year. The Mayfair hotel’s legendary tree, which has a history of being designed by the some of the brightest names in the world of design—Dolce and Gabbana, Burberry, Marc Newson, Jony Ive and a host of others—is one of the most significant symbols of the festive season in London. Citing “Christmas trees” as “the strongest ‘souvenir’ of happy childhood,” Lagerfeld will be the 9th designer Christmas collaboration for the hotel, which began in 2009 with John Galliano for Dior who returned for a second tree a year later. Lagerfeld’s theme, though, is a closely guarded secret for now. Just to give you some perspective, in the past the tree has had some very creative avatars—for instance, Burberry fashioned it from gold and silver umbrellas. But Jony Ive and Marc Newson went a step further, transforming the entire lobby with a festive installation that had glowing light boxes filled with photographic images of snow-covered silver birch trees set against a pure white floor. Now that’s going to be hard to top!
