Did you ever tell your beloved her eyes shone like jewels? Or did you ever have your lover say that to you? Well, that could be a very literal thing now, with the world’s first pair of contact lenses worth $15,000— fashioned from diamonds and gold. Created by Chandrashekhar Chawan, optometrist at Shekhar Eye Research Centre, these were originally inspired by his wife’s jewel-encrusted teeth, and profits from their sale would go into the treatment of people suffering from Stevens Johnson Syndrome. Each pair of lenses weighs 5 grams in total and sits away from the cornea at an average distance of about 6mm to 9mm. To sooth the eye, water is held in front of the lenses. Shekhar Eye Research added that the design will not prevent the eyes from getting oxygen. So if you really fancy a pair of bejewelled eyes, you need to get right there because only 3996 pairs of these lenses will be made, available in white gold or yellow gold, with the option to have 18 diamonds in them.

Created with gilded leaves, a gold dusted Belgian chocolate flower and—hold your breath—edible diamonds, this £1,000 donut is not just the world’s most expensive but also the most delectable. Unveiled by Krispy Kreme at Selfridges department store in the UK about two years ago, the confection was created to mark National Donut Week — a fundraising effort benefiting the UK Children’s Trust charity. The donut took three days to assemble and lists all the ingredients of decadence like a Dom Pérignon vintage 2002 champagne jelly with a raspberry and Chateau d’Yquem crème. Finished with a passion fruit glaze and gilded with edible 24K gold leaf, it is seductively adorned with hand-made 23K gold dusted Belgian white chocolate lotus flower, blossoms, ivy, butterflies and edible diamonds. Sitting pretty atop a Krispy Kreme Cocktail made from raspberry and passion fruit syrup, 500-year-old Courvoisier de L’Esprit Cognac and topped with 2002 Dom Pérignon champagne, this is one helluva tempting creation!

The ultra-sporty and droolworthy Renault Trezor concept car has another amazing quality to it—it’s all electric. Despite Renault being Europe’s top selling electric car maker, this is hardly the kind of car you’d expect to have this sort of advantage. The literally electrifying (pun unintended) two seat coupe has a totally far out design— thanks to design director Laurens van den Acker— with its bonnet opening up forwards and upwards to let you step inside. And it’s completely covered in a honeycomb-hexagonal pattern that allows air cooling of the batteries. The Trezor also packs in a 260 kW, 350bhp engine, building up 282 torques of electric power, making it hit 100kmph in less than 4 seconds! How you ask? By using the same rechargeable energy storage system as the Formula E. At 4.7 meters long and 2.1 meters wide by just over 1 meter tall, the Trezor is a commanding presence. Along with the lightweight aluminum frame, there is also, surprisingly, a lot of wood in the structural core of this amazing blend of old-fashioned luxury and high tech automation. This is one baby you’d have to hold your breath for!
